We've got a quirky neighbor. Everyone has one, don't they? I don't see this one much. In fact, I'm not sure of her name...Jan maybe. She's got a little maimed poodle that she pulls around in a little red wagon. Anyway, she's quite the talker, but very friendly.
Jan heard recently that we're pregnant with #4. With enthusiasm she replied "Oh I had four!" (Cool, somebody who understands.) Then she went on with something on the order of this:
"Yeah...don't know what I was thinking. He was my toughest, that #4. Biggest baby. Big and fat and rolly polly. Never had any hair, either. Toughest to handle, too. And then he even went and became a Republican. Black sheep of the family." (Shakes head.)
OK then...thanks for the uplifting words, Jan. :)

How sad. I am sure #4 has heard this message from his mother loud and clear.
Wait.
She called her son, the republican, a black sheep.
This from a woman who carts around a dog (who wouldn't survive in real life) in a WAGON.
Would you expect a Republican to cart their dog around in a wagon?
Great story Kara Jo!
Hey I'm a #4! We turn out pretty good (most of the time =)
Joey!
Bahahaha!
lovely.
That's hilarious!
And Little Maimed Poodle is the name of my new band.
Carla, you're probably right. Yes, how sad.
Anonymous...who are you? (Farf? Farf, is that you? Farf, are you a #4?)
Ed, you never cease to amaze me. Can't wait for your band's debut. I think 'Black Sheep' might also be a nice name.
Nice of her to be so encouraging huh? I wonder if people even hear themselves sometimes.
I think "Democrat Dog Wagon" would be a good band name.
I think this is just funny. I'd have said, "Well, that's excellent, thank you."
Open mouth, insert foot. It did make for a hekkuva laugh for the rest of us though. Wonder if she realized later...
The first three have been AMAZING kiddos, and I know that #4 will be just as wonderful and unique and special. I'm sure you will always be aware that your family would not have felt complete without him/her. You are such a wonderful mommy KJ! I'm so very excited to meet that little person you're growing in there!
Katie & Kristi--you two are giving me a nice chuckle here before bed. Thanks!
Inthestory--once again, there you go encouraging. Love you!
When I had number 4 my mom made him a clown quilt because she said all of the number 4s she knows are the family clown. Mine sure turned out to be one.
Keithslady, I've missed you!
The family clown, eh? We can always use some more laughter around here.
:)
