Periodically, Abby will ask Wade and me what it was like when we were little, "back in the olden days." Recently Wade told her that we didn't have mini vans when we were little. Wide eyed, Abby replied incredulously, "you mean you used horses?"
Yeah, those olden days...they were a tryin' times...no color television, VCR's or microwaves either, I told her. How did we survive?

We had...GASP...typewriters!!!
I still remember my grandma's stories of "sugar and lard" sandwiches. Uh, Yum?!?! It's always interesting to realize what the next generation won't remember. It was a shock 8 years ago when I taught middle school (college grads now) when I realized they won't remember the first computers, the Columbia space shuttle, or the Berlin wall. I feel old.
ROFL! Your kids are always a hoot! Love the picture to go with the post!
Half the time I think, "Am I old enough to have the responsibility of my own home and children?". Then Isaiah hits me with the same type of questions. I think their concept of time is just too funny.
Isaiah nearly had a bird when I told him I didn't have a booster seat in the car and I could sit in the front seat. Can you imagine?
Wouldn't family road trips be so much nicer if we could just put them all in the back of the Station Wagon in sleeping bags like we all did! Sleep and play board games: Ahhhh that was the life~
I distinctly remember getting a new coloring book and box of crayons for a family vacation up north. My sister and I colored in the back of the station wagon all the way up. How fun! If only...
Totally...lots of memories sitting in the back of the hot station wagon for road trips! I remember once my cousin and I had a camera with no film in it and pretended to take pictures of everyone around us on the road. We actually created a bit of road rage akin to the paparazzi.
