Recommendations?

Anybody got any good recommendations for a dentist in the Hudson area? Somebody nice, who is good about only doing what needs to be done and doesn't go overboard? And somebody who won't yell at me for waiting a year and a half since my last checkup...

Brad Nelson (Bayport Dental) Its not Hudson but its not that far! He is calm, kind, answers my questions and has never lectured me. Thanks for the reminder I need to make an appt.

We go to a holistic dentist in River Falls who doesn't use harmful chemicals, and is very kind. It is called Health Centered Dentistry - if you want to check it out:)
He also has all of the air in the whole building recirculated something like every 20 seconds? or was it 20 minutes? I don't know, but there is no mercury removal fumes in the air...

We are still looking as well. Please let me know when you find one you are happy with.

Hi there! We go to Paul Lawton at Crestview Dental in Hudson. Their website is crestviewdentalcare.com. We've been going there for years (well, ever since we moved to Hudson in 2000). He's really nice, their hygienist is super, and they don't do anything you don't want them to do...they don't go overboard! He's a guy that's in his early/mid 30's, and just laid back. My two kids don't mind going at all, either! (huge plus!)

I've heard Brian Whistler (downtown on Locust) is good we went to Dr.Kell (near Aldi's) and he never yelled at me the first time I went in......it had been years.

We too did Crestview Dental until our insurance stuff changed. They were really kind and gentle with the kids and made it fun. Never got on our case for lapse of time either.

Stacy in Baldwin--great to hear from you!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions--very helpful. I haven't made the appt. yet if anyone has any more.

I second Martha's suggestion. We both go there and have been very happy. I am at least as bad as you regarding time between check-ups, and they don't lecture. They have a good appointment reminder system using postcards.

Brad.

Did go to Health like LL. Very nice. Until I reached the desk and they said, "That will be $759."

Also heard that Julie Lesher on Vine is good.

Ya, at our dentist you have to pay upfront and then they file the insurance for you & then the check comes directly to us and not to the dentist~

If you have dental insurance, which we do not....we finally paid that bill off. Only took us 2 years. :)

OUCH.

Kj- Sorry we are conversating on your blog:)

Maybe we should just all go out!

If you go to Brad and your kids need fillings, tell them to ask for colored ones. :D

Kelli, are you joshin' me? Colored fillings--why would you want them to stand out? They haven't needed any fillings yet, but I can just see the hot pink smiles from a distance...

Thanks to everyone for their input. We actually have a great pediatric dentist for the kids already. I was looking for myself. And it turns out none of the suggestions given are in our network. :( We do actually have the option to go anywhere, but then, in addition to the usual percentage we'd pay, we also pay any amount over the "allowed amount" if that provider isn't in network. I have done this in the past to go to a dentist we really liked. But I decided it best this time to go with the one dentist in Hudson who is in network for us--Purdy Family Dentistry. So far, the receptionist at least sounds awesome. Feel free to let me know if anybody has heard of any reason why I should steer clear of this dentist, though. :)

Thanks again!
