What Gives?

I've had it with losing my hair. For me, pregnancy has always been the one time I have nice shiny, thick hair. None of it falls out until I'm 4 months post partum. (Then look out.) Not with this baby. I've got a forest growing on my bathroom floor. And I'm secretly afraid I'll then get a double whammy when it comes to post partum. Alopecia here I come. Yes, I'm pouting big time.

And my face? I've struggled with acne since I was 14, (that's 20 years in case anyone's counting) but again, pregnancy is the one time my face is usually clearer. This time around I seemed to have invited the round-the-clock pimple brigade. Even had one on the end of my nose last week. I introduced myself to my neighbors with "hi, my name is Rudolph." I've also got a big 2 inch discolored patch (bleached--not dark!) that I can't even seem to cover with foundation.

Yes, I know. It's all worth it. Just allow me my moment here.

WHEN DOES THE HAIR FALLING OUT STOPPPPPP??????? My hair is falling out by the handful! I have to vaccuum every day or it gets in my toes!
HANDFULLS OF HAIR!
Will it always be this way?
p.s. My hair fell out at the beginning of my pregnancy, too. Half way through it finally stopped.

It's weird that it's so different this time, huh? I wonder why.

Erin, don't tell me that!
When does it stop? For me, when it starts about 4 months after I have a baby, it continues until my babies are 8 months old or so. That's just me.

Kristi, thanks. :)

Nicole...I dunno. I asked my midwife about why it's different this time. No good explanation, but no concerns either, apparently.

I brought you the book tonight at Latte...But you weren't there! I gave it to Jen to give to you :)
Hide it from the kiddos though- lots of graphic photos....and maybe hide it from the Hubby too~

What BOOK are you guys talking about?

Kara Jo said...

Thanks Laura. I ended up with the stomach flu so I was home feeling sorry for myself. How was Latte?

Kelli said...

Latte Shmatte...what about the BOOK??

Kara Jo said...

Laura, are you talking about the book you mentioned in a comment way back...

(here's your comment)

"It is called "Hands of Love" Seven Steps to the Miracle of Birth, by Dr. Carol J. Phillips. She came to our house and helped me with Dylan when he was born with a crooked head. She is an international speaker and has served as a Doula in over 600 births!"

Is this the one that's too graphic for hubby?

Since everyone seems to be looking for a juicy tidbit, I'll leave you with this morsel:

Today I was supposed to be attending my first doula meeting at Woodwinds. (I still have the flu.) We were to watch a showing of the movie "Orgasmic Birth." And judging from some of the books I've read, it's just as it sounds.
:)

Sheesh you people are horny.

Orgasmic Birth?! WTH. The two words should not be used in the same sentence.
Although......We did learn that it does help bring on contractions....A nurse told us, I mean.

Yes, for Pete's sake. It is the book about birth and being a doula. But lots of ladies in this book seem to like giving birth naked. Guess it would be hard with pants on.

Man I hope there is no men on your site today.
:)

I'm very sorry to hear that you missed the movie on Orgasmic Birth.
Can you rent it?
MOOOOOOVIE NIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!

Kara Jo said...

Erin--ha! That'd be a girls' night to remember!
Actually no, I don't think you can rent it. But my class from the doula workshop is also going as a group--for $20 a ticket! We'll see...the showing at Woodwinds was going to be free for the doulas there because one of them purchased the movie. (Expensive I think.) You wanted all that information, right.

All the hair and acne problems...

maybe it's because it's a baby kangaroo in there!

Oh, and I was going to google the title of the video to see if Erin could get it for movie night, but then thought that might not be a good idea. I can't imagine what kind of sites might pop up!
