I just had the realization yesterday that this past week I very well may have changed my last diaper...F.O.R.E.V.E.R.
And I did not let out a whoop of joy as one might expect. It actually made me sad. I had that sinking feeling as I realized this is the end of an era. A more-than-a-decade era, and one which I have enjoyed. Yes, it will be nice not to have to spend money on diapers, and I won't miss changing the poopy ones. But I have truly enjoyed having little ones around and this means we are moving closer & closer to none of them being little. I am so blessed that I've been able to do this four times. My goodness, I'm tearing up as I write!
On a positive note, Courtney is doing very well in the potty training department. She just up and decided on her own last week that she was going to wear panties, and she's only had one or two daytime accidents all week. And we thought she was really amazing in rinsing out her own potty chair...until I discovered that she'd been DRYING IT OUT, too, with the HAND TOWEL that we all use! Ack!
So last week we made the monumental trip to pick out panties...would it be Dora, puppies, princesses--the choices were endless and Courtney changed her mind 7 times before settling on her pick. She's been having a blast changing her "unders" or "underwears" or "panties" at least 3 times a day, and I'm having fun (mostly, sniff sniff) watching her grow up.

That IS a milestone! My sister is desperately trying to get her littlest one trained. Way to go Courtney!! I do understand, though, about those milestones and how they are bittersweet. It's almost hard for me to remember sometimes, those days of littles. I was remembering just today, however, sitting in the rocking chair with my sweet Emma all snuggly in those baby jammies and padded diapered bottom. So sweet.
But what did she choose??? :)
Thanks for sharing--you and I are sympatico.
Erin,
after changing her mind over and over, she settled on some adorable patterned hipsters with no characters on them at all!
