Emily and I began her school day this morning with devotions. The topic was about God protecting us when we're scared. Emily is often afraid to go upstairs by herself. We (for like the millionth time) talked through how we can trust God to take care of us when we are afraid.
And then the light bulb went on. She got a big grin on her face and determined, "Now when I'm scared I will have God AND my Scooby Doo friends to help me!"......ZOINKS!!!

I love it...the more the merrier. Elsa too, suffers from being scared and going upstairs alone. Maybe if I told her Scooby would help...
I used to tell the kids that God didn't make monsters. (The boogey-man type) That was working splendidly until Anna watched Sesame Street a few times and realized Elmo was a monster. For a two year I suppose that gets confusing. I may just have to find Scooby Doo reruns. ;)
I think you should give her Scooby Doo snacks every time she climbs the stairs without fear! Fun! (they really make cookie shaped ones....)You could tell her that God goes with her, and Scooby rewards her when it's over.
I tell Emma that there are no monsters in our house 'cuz Jesus keeps them away. She's only sometimes scared to go upstairs alone, it's more Jack that does that. But ya know, I remember a time when I was little that my mom sent me upstairs to get something. I was too shy to argue or disobey, but I remember crying the whole time because I was so scared.
